Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Ice Age as a franchise has never been as clever or as funny as Shrek. Despite ripping off the buddy-buddy relationship of two creatures who would not usually knock around together it even creates offspring in the third, just like Shrek.

All the old (and loveable?) characters are back, Diego is suffering from a inferiority complex as he thinks he’s gone soft, Manny and Ellie are expecting and Manny is driving everyone crazy because of it, Sid is well being Sid and getting himself into trouble. This time he’s feeling left out due to the impending “baby” and so decides to become a mother,(as you do) and so he steals some eggs and manages to majorly piss off their mother... a dinosaur (Title makes sense now, right?)

It’s nothing new, the gang are reunited and off on a dangerous trek (again! show some originality in number four please writers) though this time there is one redeeming factor, although the comedy is not as clever as the two level style that Shrek and some more recent Disney films provide, to appeal to the kids but also entertain the parents they have added Simon Pegg. Hell it worked for Star Trek so why not animation? Pegg is the voice of Buck a clinically insane weasel who lives in the dinosaurs realm. He has some great one liners and is a joyful addition to the franchise.

The films creates a lot of laughs, some expected and others not and it’ll most likely bring a smile to your face upon leaving the cinema. You’ll be glad to know that Scrat and his one true love (a nut) are finally united ... with the addition of Scratete. Which is now told as more a part of the whole story rather than just at random interludes.
